Help & FAQs

Choose once; switch tools freely.

Compress one image or a batch without uploading. Start with quick compression, or set an exact file size limit.

How to use the tool

  1. Choose one or more static JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or uncompressed BMP images, a folder or a ZIP archive.
  2. Choose quick compression or Target KB. Keep the format, or select PNG, JPEG or WebP.
  3. Compress, compare the previews and download the clearly labeled result.

A practical file size target

A smaller file can help with an attachment or an upload limit. Target KB first tries JPEG/WebP quality or PNG palettes at the original pixel dimensions. If you allow smaller dimensions, it can then shrink the image while keeping its proportions.

A target is a limit, not a guarantee. Detailed images and very small limits can remain too large. The result always shows its real file size and whether it met your target.

PNG compression and format support

PNG optimization uses a real palette encoder, not the Canvas quality parameter. Choose reduced colors for smaller files or pixel-lossless encoding for browser-decoded pixels. Color reduction can affect gradients and transparency edges; compare the actual result.

JPEG and WebP use their native quality encoders. AVIF is accepted as a static primary image without container rotation or cropping, and BMP as uncompressed 24/32-bit input; these convert to PNG by default. Browser decoding must succeed. Animated images, SVG, HEIC, JXL and TIFF are currently unsupported.

Quick compression keeps dimensions and retains the original if the same-format candidate is larger. The retained-original download is labeled and still contains original metadata. Target KB checks actual bytes and may remain unmet. PNG palette optimization is bounded to 4 million pixels; larger images use native lossless PNG.

Process a folder or ZIP locally

Import up to 50 images, 100 MB of input and 100 million pixels in total. Each image must stay within 15 MB, 16 million pixels and 8192 pixels per side. Folder imports include nested folders; non-image files are skipped. All files stay in this page’s memory.

Apply the same settings and process images one at a time. Failed images are listed separately and do not block other files. Preview individual results or download a ZIP with preserved folder paths and unique output names. Encrypted ZIPs, ZIP64 and nested archives are unsupported. Changing settings clears old results; cancelling keeps already completed results.

Common questions

Does my image get uploaded?

No. Checking, decoding, encoding and previewing happen in this browser. The website still requests its ordinary HTML, scripts and styles from the static host.

What does 200 KB mean here?

It means at most 200,000 bytes. Some other systems use 1024 bytes per KB, so check the receiving website’s rule as well.

Why can the target remain unmet?

There are limits to how much quality can be reduced. With resizing off, the tool preserves pixel dimensions. A tiny target may still be impossible even with resizing on.

Can I keep a transparent background?

PNG and WebP can retain a transparent background. JPEG fills it with white. PNG color reduction can change fine edges; use pixel-lossless mode when exact decoded pixels matter.

Will metadata and image quality stay the same?

Lossless PNG preserves browser-decoded pixels without resizing; metadata and color profiles may change. Reduced-color PNG, JPEG and WebP can change visual detail. A retained original still contains its original metadata.
